The Castellon Province Fire Department advises citizens to adopt preventive measures to prevent home fires from occurring. The arrival of low temperatures and the increased use of heating systems bring an increased risk of home fires.
To prevent them from occurring and minimize their consequences, the firefighters have launched a campaign, already present in the media and social networks, which contains a call for attention and a series of tips to avoid a fire in our home.
To do this, it is recommended to make good use of heating systems, adopting various measures. Among them, keep stoves and heaters away from flammable elements such as fabrics or furniture, do not overload power strips, monitor the good condition of the entire electrical installation in our home and prevent fireplaces from being left unattended when they are lit. In the latter case, it is also recommended to periodically clean the inside of them.
A key element in the fight against home fires are smoke detectors. For this reason, the Consortium recommends installing at least one in the home, an element that provides security since its acoustic signal allows us to react in time if a fire breaks out in our house. Furthermore, the Castellón Province Fire Department reminds us that the Fire Department and the Provincial Council have a free campaign to install smoke detectors for the homes of the elderly. A detector that can be easily requested through the Fire Department’s own website and also with a form in person.
