The recently established Outreach and Prevention Unit (U.D.I.P.) of the Castellón Province Fire Department is now fully operational and has begun its educational work in schools across the province, providing fire prevention training.
In just its first few weeks of operation, it has worked in three schools in Xilxes, Costur, and Vila-real, providing fire prevention training to a total of more than 180 students.
As explained by the Deputy of the Castellón Province Fire Departament, David Vicente, “this initiative is one of the priority objectives of the Provincial Council through the Fire Department for 2025, as publicly presented during Prevention Week held in the province.” As the provincial representative reflected then and emphasized now, “it is essential to instill a culture of self-protection and emergency prevention from an early age.”
The Training Unit is part of the Consortium’s Training Section, under the direction of a firefighter technician, and is composed of a firefighter sergeant and two foreman coordinators from the forestry section. This multidisciplinary team is trained to provide training tailored to the educational environment, combining theoretical and practical knowledge on how to respond to emergency situations. We have started in three centers, and educational centers interested in receiving these sessions must submit a written request to the president of the Fire Department, expressing their interest in participating and proposing the desired dates for the training,” added David Vicente.
The Consortium encourages all centers in the province to join this initiative, which seeks to strengthen safety and awareness among young people regarding the risk of fires and other everyday emergencies.
The Outreach and Prevention Unit is part of the Castellón Provincial Council’s commitment to protecting and strengthening the Castellón Province Fire Department as a basic and necessary resource for serving the citizens of Castellón.
