The Castellon Province Fire Departament has presented a municipal training plan for emergency management.
This initiative, part of the Consortium’s new area of Institutional Relations and Public Communication Officer, is aimed at the mayors of the 134 municipalities in the province served by the Fire Consortium.
“It is a pioneering initiative that seeks to train mayors and aims to contribute to improving the response capacity to emergencies of any kind that may affect the local area,” emphasized David Vicente, the deputy responsible for the Fire Department.
This activity is especially useful for smaller municipalities, without local police forces and less familiar with emergency management procedures at the municipal level, “with the aim of increasing their resilience to any event that disrupts the normal dynamics in their localities,” noted the provincial deputy.
In this regard, David Vicente emphasized that “knowledge and training for the effective management of disaster emergency situations play a fundamental role in public policy.” This is why this activity is so important, which, in the opinion of the Fire Department representative, is “vital” so that public officials in the 134 municipalities can “provide the appropriate response to emergency situations that may arise in their municipalities.”
“For the Castellón Provincial Council, it is essential to raise awareness and train the mayors of our municipalities on the importance of emergency planning and provide them with the essential tools and knowledge to be able to act diligently and effectively in the event of any emergency,” David Vicente emphasized.
Thus, the provincial institution, through the Castellón Province Fire Department, has organized twelve four-hour training sessions to provide municipal officials with key tools for emergency management at the municipal level, as the highest officials of Civil Protection in their localities.
As the provincial representative explained, “throughout the sessions, all necessary areas will be addressed to improve the response and minimize the impact of disasters.” To this end, the powers and responsibilities of such management at the municipal level within the Municipal Territorial Emergency Plan will be reviewed, and the municipality’s coordination system with the Firefighters Consortium and other administrations involved in an emergency will be explained firsthand, as well as the use of emergency communications equipment from the Valencian Government’s CoordCom network.
“We want our municipalities to be prepared and able to react quickly to avoid any disaster caused by an emergency,” emphasized David Vicente, who highlighted the Provincial Government’s commitment to “the safety of the citizens residing in the province of Castellón.” “We are moving towards a safer and better prepared province against potential risks and catastrophes,” concluded the representative of the Fire Department, David Vicente.
