The Castellon Province Fire Departament has recovered during the month of May the Fire Prevention Week in its face-to-face format with the opening to the public of the Diputación’s fire stations and training activities. A Prevention Week held in cooperation with the Mapfre Foundation and the APTB.
The president of the Diputación, José Martí, has pointed out the importance of these activities. “In most cases, fires are only thought of in forest and rural settings, but they also happen in the home and we have to avoid them. The solution lies in prevention.”
The main objective of the activities was to make the population aware of the risks of fires and to offer training on how to act in homes, schools and workplaces, as well as on the use of smoke detectors.
This initiative is aimed at all citizens. However, the deputy of the Fire Department, Abel Ibáñez, has stressed the importance of prioritizing the most vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly and people with reduced mobility.
Among the activities carried out, workshops and informative talks stand out, in schools in Nules, Llucena, Peñíscola, Morella and Benicàssim. The province’s fire stations have also been opened to the public and Almassora has hosted the Prevention Fair, with an exhibition of materials and vehicles, simulations in the “House of Fire”, and CPR training. Castellon Province Fire Departament’s Firefighters and Civil Protection volunteers from the Diputación de Castellón have participated in the activities of the Fair.
In addition, the Ceramic Stadium in Vila-real has been the scene of a projection of informative videos for fans, since Villarreal Club de Futbol has always shown its support for this initiative.
